Baked Chai Spice Doughnuts

June 4, 2013

If you follow along with my Friday Favorites, you will know that my favorite recipes over the past couple weeks have been a doughnut recipe and a chai scone recipe. I was in the mood to do some baking last week, so I thought why not combine the two!?

One of my better ideas, if I do say so myself.

I couldn’t believe just how easy they were to make, too. I don’t have a doughnut pan, so I just winged it with some biscuit cutters. I used the largest and the smallest biscuit cutters to make the shape and was very pleased when the stayed in form after baking.

And of course I had to make these a little healthier. The recipe I referenced was already pretty healthy, using yogurt and only a little butter. I also used whole wheat flour, stevia, and Greek yogurt, essentially making them as healthy as any muffin I have made. As long as you overlook the glaze and sugar sprinkled on top.

You can zip and print the recipe here.

I may or may not have eaten all of the doughnut holes and two three doughnuts within the first day hour.
